Design of a large addition to an art school on the historic river walk. The addition includes classrooms, an auditorium, a gallery, a restaurant, and faculty housing with art studios. We expressed the school's mission of transferring knowledge while respecting the existing school's historic architecture (without mimicking it), framing urban space, resolving the public/private space relationships, and dealing with the brutal Texas sun. 1988. |
