Teller of a 1001 tales, Sheherazade, and world explorer, Sigismundo, were imprisoned on the
Mediterranean island of Malta. Thomas helped Sheherazade defy her captors by designing her a
fiery fortress above a waterfall and an entry pavilion. She marks time with light shafts
aligned with the solstices.
Thomas helped Sigismundo escape by designing him a vessel to
escape all the distractions of life: no sound due to white noise of the flowing water, no
vision with no light, no temperature change, and no taste or smell since food and oxygen
are given intravenously.
